The spirit of commemorating Kartini Day has prompted PAM JAYA, in partnership with TP PKK DKI Jakarta, to distribute 100 free water tanks to mothers in the Tugu Utara sub-district, Koja district, North Jakarta. These large-capacity water storage containers are expected to help the mothers maintain safer, more comfortable, and stable water reserves.

On this occasion, 100 tanks were distributed to various areas, with 51 allocated to Koja and 49 to Kelapa Gading.

PAM JAYA’s Director General, Arief Nasrudin, stated that today’s Kartini figures are the mothers. Mothers symbolise resilience and hope within the family. Therefore, PAM JAYA is fully committed to the welfare and happiness of mothers, particularly regarding access to clean water.

“A mother’s struggle is extraordinary. We can all stay healthy and have our needs met at home because of the mother figure. We want mothers to feel happy with sufficient access to clean water. That is why we are distributing free water tanks as a token of our appreciation for them,” Arief said in his statement on Monday (20/4/2026).

According to him, this programme is part of PAM JAYA’s ongoing efforts to expand access to clean water services. All Jakarta residents in various areas should be able to enjoy an improved quality of life.

“Water access is not just about piped networks, but also about how water can be stored in storage containers and utilised optimally in every household. Tanks provide a short-term solution for residents in areas with low water pressure,” Arief explained.

The free water tank distribution programme has been implemented in stages. In the initial phase, 100 tanks were distributed to residents in Padamulya, Angke, West Jakarta, in January 2026.

Subsequently, in the second phase, 150 tanks were again provided to residents in Kamal sub-district, Kalideres district, West Jakarta, in February 2026. Then, in the third phase on 16 April, 270 tanks were distributed in Angke, North Jakarta.

Furthermore, this programme follows up on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TP PKK of DKI Jakarta Province and PAM JAYA Women’s Empowerment regarding Community Social Assistance for Jakarta Residents. Throughout 2026, PAM JAYA targets the distribution of 2,000 free 300-litre water tanks in stages across all Jakarta areas.

The programme targets simple households, particularly customers in categories 2A1 and 2A2 with building areas under 70 square metres. One of the beneficiaries, Ibu Lilis, expressed her joy at receiving the free water tank assistance.

“This tank is very helpful for us. I am touched. Now I can feel calm and secure because we can store water, ensuring our daily needs are better guaranteed,” she said.

In the future, PAM JAYA together with TP PKK DKI Jakarta will continue to provide real solutions for the community while accelerating the piped water network throughout the capital.
