In Addition to Malaungi, Former Bima Police Chief Also Questioned in Connection with Ko Erwin's Money Laundering Case
Director of Narcotics Crimes at Polri’s Bareskrim, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the examination is part of the development in uncovering a narcotics network previously exposed by investigators. “The examination is conducted to delve into suspicions of fund flows and assets originating from narcotics criminal proceeds. Investigators are also tracing possible parties who may have enjoyed or assisted in concealing the proceeds of crime,” Eko told reporters on Friday (8/5/2026). Eko said the pursuit of suspected money laundering by drug lords represents Polri’s commitment to ensnaring narcotics perpetrators. The police, according to Eko, not only impose prison sentences but also impoverish the perpetrators. In the investigation process, Bareskrim’s Narcotics Crimes Directorate investigators have also conducted financial transaction analysis, document examinations, and seizures of several pieces of electronic evidence related to the case. “This step represents Polri’s commitment to breaking the chain of narcotics distribution, including stopping the flow of criminal proceeds used to support network activities,” he added. Currently, investigators are continuing to deepen the connections of the parties with Erwin’s network and tracing assets suspected to originate from narcotics criminal proceeds. For this case, parties proven to be involved can be charged under Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and Law No. 8 of 2010 on the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering Crimes.
