In 10 Seconds, Car Window Break-In in Banyuwangi: Thief Steals Rp300 Million

Two perpetrators needed only about 10 seconds to snatch Rp300 million in cash from inside the victim’s vehicle. The money was in a backpack kept under the back seat of the car. At the time, the victim was eating at a seblak stall near the location at 3:00 pm WIB. The money disappeared. Police have secured a number of pieces of evidence and are now pursuing the suspects. ‘A number of pieces of evidence have been secured and the suspects are being chased,’ said Banyuwangi Police Crime Investigation Unit Head Kompol Lanang Teguh Pambudi, as quoted by detikJatim, on Tuesday (19/5/2026). Police have also secured CCTV footage around the location. The footage is an important clue in identifying the perpetrators. ‘The loss is Rp300 million in the backpack stolen by the perpetrators,’ he added.
