Improving the dreadful
Improving the dreadful
state of transportation
From Warta Kota
With the frequent reports of fatal road accidents, in which
vehicles drive into oncoming traffic, causing head-on collisions,
I would like to suggest that median strips be built to prevent
further mishaps.
The medians on such two lane roads and highways should reach
such a height that technically will not allow cars cross them and
they should not have sharp edges.
Car accidents also often take place at railroad crossings
where no safety precautions are taken. In this case, one
passenger should first get out and check if any train is going to
pass.
Such prior checks can be made a standard procedure by putting
up warning signs telling passengers to do so, and such signs
should also have a skull and crossbones, to warn people.
The recent Lion Air accident in Surakarta, which claimed
dozens of victims, prompts me to propose that a sand field
measuring 200 meters long and one meter high be built at the end
of every airport runway.
In this way, any skidding airplane will be technically forced
to slow down so and aircraft damage and the number of victims can
be reduced.
