President Prabowo Subianto is continuing his efforts to improve the governance of Hajj administration for the Indonesian people, specifically through financial audits and the eradication of all fraudulent practices.

The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that Prabowo is not only focused on reducing Hajj costs to make them more affordable for the public but also intends to ensure that the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) manages funds correctly.

“The President encouraged that a forensic audit be conducted immediately on the financial management of the Hajj funds,” said Dahnil following a limited meeting at the State Palace on Monday, 28 September 2026.

According to Dahnil, a forensic audit is necessary so that the government can understand the overall financial condition of the Hajj funds based on facts. The government does not want any financial manipulation or other practices that would cause the management of Hajj funds to fail to reflect the true situation.

“Why must a forensic audit be conducted on the management of Hajj finances as per the President’s order? Because the President wants to know the actual facts regarding the true condition of the Hajj finances,” he explained.

Dahnil noted that the government also wants to ensure that the management of Hajj finances during the Prabowo administration operates transparently and accountably. This is considered vital so that the government has a factual overview of the financial situation before taking further remedial steps.

“We must ensure there is no financial engineering or similar practices, such as the case currently trending in Malaysia; therefore, the President also wants to know the current condition of the Hajj finances,” said Dahnil.

He added that the government will coordinate with several parties, including the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), to follow up on the President’s directive regarding the forensic audit.

“That is what we will do; we will speak with all teams, especially the BPKP, regarding the efforts for the forensic audit of Hajj finances,” he added.

In addition to improving financial governance, Dahnil mentioned that these directives are part of the government’s agenda to ensure that Hajj administration in Indonesia is conducted transparently and well-managed.

“This is also part of the President’s order to ‘clean up’ Indonesian Hajj administration so that it is more blessed, clean, and free from Hajj and Umrah cartels,” he explained.
