Impressive! Over 4,000 Entrepreneurs Register for Pertamina UMK Academy 2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Registration for the Pertamina UMAX Academy 2026 officially closed on 31 August 2026. During the registration period from 21 to 31 August 2026, more than 4,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) players from various regions across Indonesia registered to participate in this flagship local business development programme by PT Pertamina (Persero).
The number of applicants for the Pertamina UMK Academy 2026 has increased sharply, nearly doubling compared to the number of participants in the 2025 programme. This surge in applicants reflects the enthusiasm of local entrepreneurs for the Pertamina UMK Academy as a high-impact programme for business development and capability enhancement.
Initiated in 2020, this programme has become one of Pertamina’s flagship Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiatives, focusing on the development of communities and local business sectors in Indonesia.
Registered MSMEs will now undergo curation and administrative verification, in accordance with specified requirements, to determine which businesses are eligible to participate in the 2026 Pertamina UMK Academy training series.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, stated that the enthusiasm of over 4,000 applicants demonstrates the strong spirit of Indonesian MSME players to continue learning, self-developing, and increasing their knowledge to enhance competitiveness.
“The enthusiasm of the applicants shows the great spirit of Indonesian MSME players to develop their businesses. Through the Pertamina UMK Academy, participants will not only gain knowledge but also receive guidance to apply their learning directly in accordance with the needs and development of their businesses,” Baron said in a written statement on Tuesday (1/9/2026).
The Pertamina UMK Academy is a structured, multi-stage development programme consisting of two phases: the Regional Stage and the National Stage. During the regional stage, participants will receive materials and practical training to strengthen the fundamentals of business management according to their specific industry sectors.
Throughout the regional stage, participants’ activity and progress will be continuously monitored by the Accelerator and Mentor Teams. The progress of participants will also be assessed periodically to serve as a consideration for curating MSMEs that are eligible to proceed to the national stage.
MSMEs that pass the national stage training will receive more intensive learning and guidance based on four ‘Go’ classes: Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global. National stage participants will also receive two specialised modules regarding ‘Go Green’ and ‘Go Aggregator’.
“Every MSME player has different needs and levels of readiness. Therefore, the syllabus, curriculum, and training materials are specifically designed according to the training stages and the business development conditions of the participants so that the programme can produce real, impactful, and measurable changes,” explained Baron.
From Training to Scaling Up MSMEs
Over its six years of implementation, the Pertamina UMK Academy has assisted thousands of MSME players in learning, growing, and scaling up. The series of programmes includes training, challenges/games, marketing practice, mentoring, coaching, legal/certification strengthening, and facilities for expanding market access. Participants who successfully become champions in the national stage training will also receive additional facilities in the form of technological support or production equipment with a total value of up to hundreds of millions of rupiah.
One participant who has benefited from the programme is Lidya SP, owner of Besolek and the 1st Place winner of the ‘Go Modern’ class at the 2025 Pertamina UMK Academy. After participating in the training series, Lidya was able to improve production and financial management, increase efficiency, optimise zero-waste practices, and manage digital marketing more consistently.
“Production and financial management have become more organised, and the production process is more efficient, making zero-waste more optimal,” said Lidly.
According to Lidya, these changes have also made Besolek’s marketing content more consistent and professional. Customer interest and trust in her products have increased, subsequently driving sales growth.
The experience of Besolek serves as an illustration of how the learning within the Pertamina UMK Academy can be applied directly to meet business needs. This success is expected to inspire the 2026 participants to demonstrate full commitment throughout the entire training series.
“Pertamina hopes that the 2026 UMK Academy can produce even more entrepreneurs who possess good governance, are adaptive to technology, are capable of expanding markets, and provide economic benefits to the surrounding community,” said Baron.
The Pertamina UMK Academy supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 8 regarding Decent Work and Economic Growth. This programme is also aligned with ‘Asta Cita’ in strengthening entrepreneurship, developing creative industries, and increasing quality employment opportunities through the enhancement of the capacity and competitiveness of Indonesian MSMEs.
