Imported rice damaged

JAKARTA (JP): At least 38 tons of rice imported from Thailand in January were damaged by sea water during shipment to East Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara, a local government official said.

A regent in East Sumba, Lukas Kaborang, said on Thursday the damaged rice would be destroyed because it could no longer safely be consumed.

He did not say when the rice would be destroyed. (rei)
