Implementing WFA During Eid Holidays, Bekasi Regency Ensures Public Services Continue
The Bekasi Regency Government has implemented a work from anywhere (WFA) policy for civil servants (ASN) as an adjustment to the work system ahead of and following the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holidays. This policy is contained in Circular Number 800.1.6/SE-37/BKPSDM/2026 issued by the Human Resources and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) of Bekasi Regency. Secretary of BKPSDM Bekasi Regency, Bennie Yulianto Iskandar, explained that the policy is a follow-up to central government directives regarding the regulation of ASN work during the Eid exodus and return period. According to him, the implementation of WFA is carried out through a task division system so that government service activities continue without hindrance. “Some ASN can work flexibly through the WFA system, while others must still be present at the office, especially those related to public services and securing the exodus flow,” Bennie stated in his comments, quoted on Wednesday (18/3). He explained that the work system adjustment applies from 16–17 March 2026 before Eid and 25–27 March 2026 after Eid. Although there is work flexibility for ASN, the local government ensures that all public services continue as usual. Service units that directly interact with the public, such as regional hospitals, community health centres, fire departments, and field officers supporting the smooth flow of the exodus, are still required to carry out duties directly at the office or in the field. Meanwhile, for other regional apparatus, department heads are given the authority to regulate WFA implementation with the number of employees working from anywhere maximised at 50% of the total ASN. Bennie emphasised that every regional apparatus organisation must ensure that this policy does not reduce the quality of services to the public. In addition, the local government is also encouraging the optimisation of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) so that ASN performance remains monitored even when working flexibly. Supervision of employee performance is still carried out through the attendance monitoring system and daily work achievement reports. On the other hand, the government is also regulating the granting of annual leave selectively. ASN leave applications are limited, especially during the periods of 9–13 March and 30 March–2 April 2026, to avoid shortages of personnel in public service units. Bekasi Regency hopes that this WFA policy can help reduce the density of the Eid exodus and return traffic, while ensuring that services to the public continue optimally during this year’s Eid holiday period.
