Implementing 'Mining with Heart', NHM Successfully Facilitates Heart Surgery for Doro Resident in Jakarta

PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), operator of the Gosowong Gold Mine, continues to strengthen its social commitment to communities surrounding the mine through the NHM Peduli Foundation. As part of implementing the ‘Mining with Heart’ philosophy, the company provided full medical assistance and treatment facilitation for Glen F. Kotabunan, a resident of Doro Village, North Kao District, who was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease. Glen’s medical condition required intensive specialist care, prompting NHM Peduli to facilitate a medical referral to Jakarta. This initiative is a tangible manifestation of the concern held by NHM President Director, Haji Robert Nitiyudo Wachjo, for the welfare and health of communities within the company’s operational area. The assistance process began in late February 2026. The NHM Peduli team made initial contact with the patient and immediately facilitated Glen’s departure to Jakarta for advanced medical treatment. Upon arrival in the capital, Glen underwent a series of examinations and pre-operative check-ups at the paediatric cardiology unit of the Jakarta Heart Hospital. After thorough medical preparation, Glen was hospitalised and successfully underwent heart surgery in late April 2026. Post-surgery, the medical team continued to monitor Glen’s progress until he was declared stable and permitted to return to his hometown in North Kao in early May 2026. As of late June 2026, Glen’s condition remains under the supervision of NHM Peduli’s accompanying doctor, dr. Syamsul Bahri. The patient is also ensured to receive regular follow-up treatment in Tobelo to maintain his health stability. The success of this medical procedure brought profound happiness to the family.
