Implementation of Academic Ability Test in Disaster-Affected Areas Postponed
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has revealed that the implementation of the academic ability test for primary school (SD) students in several disaster-affected areas has been postponed. The TKA for primary level was scheduled to take place starting today, Monday, 20 April 2026.
Mu’ti stated that one of the regions postponing the TKA is North Maluku. “Several areas in North Maluku have requested a follow-up TKA implementation later, because there are still earthquakes that make the children feel unsafe,” said Mu’ti when met during his visit to State Junior High School 16 Jakarta, Monday, 20 April 2026.
Mu’ti said his ministry will prepare follow-up tests for every region that cannot participate in the TKA according to the determined schedule. He assured that the follow-up TKA will use a new set of questions, thus still fulfilling a sense of fairness for students.
According to him, the follow-up TKA will be scheduled according to the conditions of each region. “For example, if there are aftershocks, we will schedule a follow-up exam, not a retake, but a follow-up exam,” he explained.
This year marks the first time the TKA for primary school (SD) level is being held. The TKA for primary level will take place from 20-30 April 2026. The implementation of this TKA is being held simultaneously and participated in by more than 4.4 million students from 175,000 educational units. The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has scheduled the follow-up exam implementation from 11-17 May 2026.
For the primary level, there are two subjects to be tested, namely Indonesian language and mathematics. The system used is almost similar to the previous assessment system, namely the national examination. However, TKA is not mandatory and does not determine graduation.
The scores that will be listed on the diploma today still refer to the results of the computer-based national assessment (ANBK), an evaluation system designed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim in 2021.
