Impediments in tourism industry
Impediments in tourism industry
From Merdeka
Tourism in the country has recently been heralded as a
potential foreign exchange earner, right after oil and gas and
non-oil exports.
Endeavors to accommodate increased tourism flow are visible in
the greater number of newly constructed hotels. Minister of
Tourism, Post and Telecommunications Joop Ave is optimistic that
tourism will vie with the textile and garment sector as a foreign
exchange earner.
However, we must be aware of the impediments inherent in the
tourism industry. For example, there is a lack of adequate
infrastructure and facilities. Good coordination among the
related government agencies is non-existent. Investors are often
perplexed over who to turn to.
It is hoped that Joop will tirelessly bring up the subject of
tourism to encourage investors to support Indonesia's potential
tourism sector.
