Impact of Train Collision: Passengers Crowd Pasar Senen Station, Train Journeys Delayed
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Passenger build-up occurred in the intercity train departure area at Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday morning (28/4/2026) following the collision between the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, on Monday night (27/4/2026).
Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location, passengers crowded the entrance pathways to the departure area and the waiting room.
Several prospective passengers were seen sitting on the floor, while others stood waiting for confirmation of departure schedules.
Queues of passengers also snaked from the entrance doors, filling the waiting room area. Some passengers occasionally approached staff to inquire about departure certainty.
Meanwhile, station staff repeatedly made announcements regarding journey delays due to operational disruptions.
“We inform all customers of the Kereta Api Tawang Jaya Premium, Gajahwong, Dharmawangsa Ekspres that the trains cannot yet depart due to operational disruptions,” read the announcement.
In addition, through the loudspeaker, they offered refunds for passengers unwilling to accept the delays and wishing to cancel their journeys.
“We invite you to cancel at the station counter with a 100 percent refund excluding booking fees, which can be done 24/7 from the scheduled time on your ticket,” the announcement continued.
One prospective train passenger, Mulyanto (63), felt the impact. He said he had been at the station since 05:30 WIB waiting for the departure to Surabaya Pasar Turi, scheduled for 09:15 WIB.
“Yes, the build-up is due to that incident. If it hadn’t happened, it would have been on time,” said Mulyanto when met by Kompas.com at the location on Tuesday.
He stated that delays were not only affecting his train but almost all journeys.
“Yes, all are delayed. Because of the delay in the Bekasi area. Even the Gajahwong, scheduled for 07:00 WIB, hasn’t departed yet,” he said.
Although there had been notifications, he admitted he had not received detailed explanations.
