Impact of Plastic Raw Material Pressure, Yamaha Raises Motorcycle Prices
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The global rise in plastic material prices is beginning to have a tangible impact on the motorcycle industry. Unlike several manufacturers who are still holding back, Yamaha has already made price adjustments to some of its products since April 2026.
Manager of Public Relations YRA & Community at PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Mfg (YIMM), Rifki Maulana, acknowledged that this issue is not only occurring domestically but has already become a global pressure on the automotive industry.
“Indeed, this is quite a global issue,” said Rifki to Kompas.com (16/4/2026).
“The impact is that from early April, we have already made price adjustments on some products,” Rifki added.
Nevertheless, the amount of the increase is not uniform across all models, but is adjusted according to each segment and product specifications.
It is known that in April, Yamaha’s official website has made price adjustments. In the Lexi LX 155 line, all variants have increased by Rp 300,000, with the Connected/ABS type now at Rp 32,000,000, S Version at Rp 29,150,000, and Standard at Rp 27,350,000.
Then, the Nmax Neo Version and Neo S Version have each risen by Rp 300,000 to Rp 34,065,000 and Rp 35,055,000 respectively.
The most significant increase occurred in the maxi scooter segment. The Xmax 250 Connected and Tech Max have each risen by Rp 1 million to Rp 69,215,000 and Rp 76,610,000.
Plastic materials themselves play a vital role in the construction of modern motorcycles, from the body, panels, to various structural components.
Yamaha’s step to raise prices indicates that cost pressures are starting to become difficult to fully absorb through internal efficiencies.
Looking ahead, each manufacturer’s pricing policy direction is likely to depend heavily on the stability of the supply chain and global material price movements.
For consumers, this situation means the potential for further motorcycle price increases remains open, especially if cost pressures continue.
