Impact of Fuel Price Hike Minimal, inDrive Yet to Adjust Fares

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The increase in non-subsidised fuel (BBM) prices, effective from 18 April 2026, is considered to have no significant impact on ride-hailing service fares, including inDrive.

As of now, the company assures that there are no plans to adjust per-kilometre fares because the impact is still deemed limited in the field.

inDrive’s Communication Manager, Wahyu Ramadhan, stated that the company is continuing to monitor market developments before taking further steps.

“inDrive is currently continuing to monitor market conditions on a regular basis,” Wahyu told Kompas.com on Monday (20/4/2026).

“Regarding the non-subsidised BBM issue effective from 18 April, it is more directed towards special fuel types such as Turbo RON 98, Dexlite, and Pertamax Dex, so the impact on drivers should be very minimal, and there is no need for price adjustments at this time,” he explained.

In general, Pertamax Turbo is used in high-performance vehicles such as the Honda Civic RS, Toyota Raize, to premium cars like the Alphard, Fortuner, and Pajero Sport.

Meanwhile, Dexlite is widely used in diesel vehicles such as the Toyota Innova Diesel, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, to the Isuzu MU-X.

As for Pertamina Dex, it is generally used in modern diesel vehicles such as the Toyota Fortuner, Innova, to the Hyundai Santa Fe.

“Considering the healthy market growth and a broad customer segment including schools, universities, private sectors, and families, the impact on customers is still under control,” he said.

He also emphasised that inDrive continues to coordinate with the government and various stakeholders to ensure services run optimally.

“We are also conducting comprehensive coordination with the government and other stakeholders to continue ensuring that the service system and all supporting aspects run well,” he asserted.
