Impact of Congestion at Gilimanuk, Very Dense Operations Implemented
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has recorded an increase in crossing mobility on the Bali–Java route in anticipation of the Lebaran mudik (homecoming) exodus.
To address this, the police and stakeholders have implemented operational arrangements to accelerate vehicle movement and clear queues heading to Gilimanuk Port.
“We are continuously implementing various operational acceleration measures together with stakeholders, ranging from traffic management on queuing routes to optimising ferry services, so that vehicle flow remains steady and queues can be cleared quickly,” said ASDP Chief Executive Officer Heru Widodo in an official statement on Monday (16 March 2026).
He stated that various operational acceleration measures are being continuously implemented in the field to maintain smooth vehicle flow towards the port.
In addition, small vehicles have been diverted to the Cargo Buffer Zone to reduce congestion on the main route to Gilimanuk Port.
From the ferry operations perspective, ASDP is implementing very dense operational patterns by operating 35 ships on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route.
In addition, the Arrive–Unload–Depart (AUD) scheme continues to be applied at berths MB1, MB4, and LCM, so that arriving ships can immediately proceed with cargo unloading and quickly return to sailing without loading vehicles.
“The Ministry of Transport continues to ensure that transport services run safely, smoothly, and in a controlled manner, and is pushing for acceleration of operational measures in the field so that vehicle and passenger congestion can be quickly cleared,” said Transport Minister Dudy.
He added that the Deputy Minister of Transport and the Director General of Land Transport have been assigned to monitor conditions directly at Gilimanuk Port.
