Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko spoke about the possibility of deporting Mohamad Irman Ali (33), also known as celebrity Woodyrman, following the assault on Brunei national MHF (30) that resulted in death. Hendarsam stated his department would await the police’s decision regarding the legal process against Woodyrman.

“We need to know what the police want. If they hand it over to us, we can proceed with Pro Justitia and administrative actions,” Hendarsam said when contacted on Friday (29 May 2026).

Hendarsam stated that general criminal offences are typically processed within Indonesia. According to him, the Immigration Directorate General will only carry out deportation after the perpetrator has served their sentence.

“Typically, since the crime was committed here, the police handle the criminal proceedings first. After the legal process is completed, including sentencing and serving the sentence, only then would we deport them. That’s the usual process, but it depends on the police’s preference,” Hendarsam said.

However, he confirmed his department would await the police’s decision, noting that general criminal offences fall under the police’s jurisdiction.

“General criminal offences in this area are not immigration offences; it’s the police’s domain. Yes, since it falls under general criminal offences, that’s the police’s responsibility. If the police have a different opinion later, then we’ll consider it,” he added.
