Immigration Violations in Tabanan: 2 Foreign Nationals Deported, 3 Fail to Update Addresses
The Immigration Office has discovered a number of foreign nationals (WNA) abusing their stay permits while residing in Bali. From January to August 2026, it was recorded that two foreign nationals have been deported in the Tabanan Regency.
Most recently, a Nigerian national, Maduabuchi John Ndummable, was returned to his home country after residing in Indonesia, specifically Bali, for eight years.
The Head of the Information Technology, Intelligence, and Immigration Enforcement Sub-Section of the Class III Non-TPI Immigration Office of Tabanan, Merry Yolanda Baransano, explained that in addition to deportation cases, officers also found approximately three cases of foreign nationals who had not updated their addresses to match their current places of residence.
Regarding these cases, officers issued warnings because, while their stay permits remain valid, their residential addresses do not match the data listed in their immigration documents.
“As of now, there are two individuals we have deported due to the abuse of stay permits. Furthermore, there are about three cases where they have not updated their addresses,” said Merry Yolanda when confirmed on Wednesday (2/9/2026).
According to her, these three foreign nationals actually possess valid stay permits. However, they have failed to perform an address mutation despite living in locations different from the addresses stated in their immigration documents.
Officers have issued warnings to the foreign nationals involved to comply with immigration administrative requirements, particularly regarding the accuracy of residential addresses.
On the other hand, enforcement against foreign nationals who only move temporarily between various locations presents a unique challenge. This is because many foreigners only stay in a particular place for two or three days before returning to their actual primary residence.
“In most cases, we cannot take serious action because they only visit a place for about two or three days before returning to their actual address,” she explained.
This situation requires officers to consider the context and duration of a foreign national’s presence in a location before determining enforcement measures. Monitoring continues to ensure that the presence and activities of foreign nationals in Bali, specifically in the Tabanan Regency, align with their permitted stay permits.
The Tabanan Immigration Office reminds all foreign nationals to always comply with immigration rules, including officially reporting and updating their residential addresses whenever a change of residence occurs.
