Immigration Sting in West Jakarta: Deputy Minister Silmy Karim's Residence Searched by KPK
On Wednesday (3/6/2026), investigators arrived at the residence of Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, at approximately 22:57 WIB. Initially, investigators faced resistance when attempting to enter the premises, though they asserted they were carrying official assignment letters. After an argument, the KPK investigators were permitted entry and proceeded to speak with the household security.
Silmy Karim, who was being sought by the KPK in connection with a sting operation (OTT) at the West Jakarta Immigration Office, has surrendered to the authorities. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that Silym Karim has arrived at the KPK Merah Putih building and is currently undergoing examination by investigators.
The KPK’s sting operation targeted officials at the West Jakarta Immigration Office and extended to regions in West Java and Bali. A total of 17 individuals have been detained, including the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office. Authorities also seized evidence including cars, motorcycles, cash in foreign currencies, and gold. The operation is allegedly linked to bribery involving the processing of permits for foreign nationals to reside in Indonesia. Detailed specifics of the case are expected to be disclosed during a forthcoming press conference.
Separately, the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto, stated that he is aware of the sting operation and respects the ongoing legal process.
