Immigration PNBP from Visas Rises 6.4% Despite Fewer Issuances

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration has recorded a 6.42 per cent increase in non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the visa sector during the first semester of 2026, even though the number of visas issued decreased compared to the same period in the previous year.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantube, in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, noted that this increase in PNBP occurred amidst global uncertainty since the beginning of the year.

“We are prioritising digital transformation and a selective policy to ensure that every foreigner entering Indonesia provides added value to the national economy, without neglecting national security aspects,” he said.

PNBP from the visa sector in the first semester of 2026 reached Rp2.82 trillion, up 6.42 per cent from Rp2.65 trillion during the same period in 2025.

According to Hendarsam, the largest decline occurred in Visa-Free Visits (BVK), which dropped by 87.91 per cent, from 438,423 issuances in the first semester of 2025 to 52,999 issuances in the same period this year.

Conversely, the issuance of C1 index visit visas increased by 2.76 per cent to 3,829,902 issuances from the previous 3,726,855 issuances.

He stated that Australia remains the top source country for international tourists with 848,802 visits, followed by China with 668,432 visits, India with 334,107 visits, South Korea with 202,101 visits, and the United States with 186,463 visits.

Between January and June 2026, the most frequently issued visa types were Visa on Arrival, with 3,481,490 issuances, followed by C1 index visit visas with 113,323 issuances, and C2 index visit visas for equipment installation purposes with 83,852 issuances.

These three types of visas represent the highest volume among approximately 114 types of visas issued by the Directorate General of Immigration.

In terms of supervision, the Directorate General of Immigration recorded 10,911 immigration administrative actions, including 3,260 cancellations of stay permits and deportations.

Furthermore, the Directorate General of Immigration has processed legal action against 23 foreign nationals, with 17 cases still under investigation, four cases in trial, and one case having reached a final legal decision.

“Every administrative action, from entry bans to deportation, is our step to filter the quality of foreigners entering to minimise potential risks that could disturb national security and order,” said Hendarsam.
