Immigration PNBP from Visas Rises 6.4% Despite Fewer Issuances

The Directorate General of Immigration recorded a 6.42 percent increase in non-tax state revenue from the visa sector during the first semester of 2026, despite a decline in the total number of visas issued compared to the same period last year. Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated on Wednesday that the revenue increase occurred amidst global uncertainty since the beginning of the year. “We are prioritising digital transformation and a selective policy to ensure that every foreign national entering Indonesia adds value to the national economy, without neglecting aspects of state security,” he said. Non-tax state revenue from the visa sector reached Rp2.82 trillion in the first half of 2026, up 6.42 percent from Rp2.65 trillion in the same period of 2025. Hendarsam noted the most significant decrease was in the Visa-Free Visit facility, which dropped by 87.91 percent, from 438,423 issuances in the first half of 2025 to just 52,999 issuances this year. Conversely, the issuance of C1 index visit visas increased by 2.76 percent to 3,829,902 issuances from the previous 3,726,855. Australia remained the top source of foreign tourists with 848,802 visits, followed by China with 668,432 visits, India with 334,107 visits, South Korea with 202,101 visits, and the United States with 186,463 visits. During January to June 2026, the most frequently issued visa type was the Visa on Arrival, totalling 3,481,490 issuances, followed by the C1 index visit visa with 113,323 issuances and the C2 index visit visa for equipment installation purposes with 83,852 issuances. These three types were the most common among approximately 114 visa categories issued by the Directorate General of Immigration. In the supervision sector, the directorate recorded 10,610 administrative immigration actions, including 3,260 residence permit revocations and deportations. Furthermore, 23 foreign nationals were processed legally, with 17 cases still under investigation, four in trial, and one having reached a final and binding legal decision. “Every administrative action, from blacklisting to deportation, is a step we take to filter the quality of incoming foreigners to minimise potential risks that could disrupt national security and order,” Hendarsam concluded.
