Immigration Office introduces Corridor Gate at Surabaya Hajj Debarkation
Sidoarjo, East Java - The Surabaya Special Class I Immigration Office has implemented the Corridor Gate system at the Surabaya Hajj Debarkation located at the Surabaya Hajj Dormitory to facilitate the smooth return of Hajj pilgrims.
‘We are continuously striving to provide professional, adaptive, and service-oriented immigration services for the public, including supporting the smooth conduct of the Hajj pilgrimage,’ said Surabaya Special Class I Immigration Office Head Agus Winarto in Sidoarjo on Monday.
He explained that the Corridor Gate system is the first of its kind in East Java for Hajj return immigration services, featuring faster, integrated checks while maintaining immigration oversight.
The corridor-based check system allows pilgrims to move more smoothly, reducing queues and speeding up arrival processes at the Surabaya Debarkation.
Meanwhile, for this year’s Hajj departures, Juanda International Airport has reintroduced the Makkah Route service, enabling Saudi immigration checks to be conducted while pilgrims are still in Indonesia.
This service allows pilgrims to complete travel and Saudi immigration document checks before departure, eliminating the need for similar checks upon arrival at Saudi airports.
The Makkah Route is part of efforts to improve Hajj service quality by accelerating document checks and enhancing pilgrim comfort during the journey to the Holy Land.
‘Both the Makkah Route and Corridor Gate innovations demonstrate inter-agency collaboration in delivering modern, effective, and humane immigration services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims,’ said Agus.
He added that both innovations align with the directives of Immigration and Correction Minister Agus Andrianto and Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko to realise modern, adaptive immigration services focused on public interest through the ‘Immigration for the People’ spirit.
