Immigration Office Conducts Foreign Worker Data Collection at Two Mining Companies in Konawe
KENDARI – Data collection on foreign nationals at two mining companies, PT Obsidian Stainless Steel and PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry in Konawe Regency, has commenced by the Class I Immigration Office TPI Kendari together with the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration for Southeast Sulawesi.
Head of the Class I Immigration Office TPI Kendari, Muhammad Novrian Jaya, said the activity was carried out as part of efforts to intensify immigration supervision of the presence and activities of foreign nationals in the working area, particularly in strategic industrial zones such as the PT OSS and PT VDNI industrial estates.
"This activity involves a joint team led directly by the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration for Southeast Sulawesi and the Head of the Class I Immigration Office TPI Kendari, supported by their respective staff," he said on Thursday (17/4/2025).
He added that the activity also aimed to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, particularly regarding residence permit documents held by foreign nationals and the activities of foreign workers at both companies, so that there would be no misuse of residence permits by foreign workers.
"We are not only collecting data on foreign nationals, but we are also providing education and socialisation regarding the latest immigration regulations and reporting obligations on the presence of foreign nationals through the Foreign National Reporting Application (APOA) by sponsors," he explained.
Muhammad Novrian also explained that the results of the data collection indicated that foreign workers at PT OSS and PT VDNI held valid residence permits corresponding to their type of activity. Furthermore, the management of both PT OSS and PT VDNI expressed their commitment to continue coordinating with immigration authorities and to consistently report on the presence of foreign workers, as well as to stay updated on immigration regulations.
The activity forms part of a preventive strategy to maintain a conducive environment for foreign workers in the working area of the Class I Immigration Office TPI Kendari, in order to foster investment and advance the economy of Southeast Sulawesi.
"The Class I Immigration Office TPI Kendari will continue to conduct regular data collection and supervision of foreign workers within the Kendari Immigration working area," he said.
