Immigration Ministry Educates Tangerang Islamic Boarding School Students on Human Trafficking Prevention
The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas), through the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office of Tangerang, has educated students at the Tahfizh Darul Quran Islamic Boarding School in Tangerang, Banten, on the prevention of human trafficking (TPPO) and people smuggling (TPPM). This educational activity is part of the Immigration-Assisted Village programme.
Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office of Tangerang, Hasanin, stated that his office targets various educational facilities, including Islamic boarding schools, senior high schools, and universities, under the Immigration-Assisted Village programme, which focuses on preventing TPPO and TPPM. According to him, individuals of productive age are vulnerable to becoming victims of human trafficking.
“We see that the Darul Quran Islamic Boarding School also has potential; the young people here are not only high school students but also university level. The function is solely to educate the public who are of productive age and vulnerable to activities that could lead to them becoming victims of TPPO,” said Hasanin, as reported by Antara on Thursday (18/6/2026).
Hasanin explained that the Immigration-Assisted Village is one of 15 strategic programmes from the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto. Since 2025, around 50 immigration-assisted villages have been established in Tangerang City, one of which is in Dongkal Raya, Ketapang, where the Tahfizh Darul Quran Islamic Boarding School is located.
The boarding school, led by Ustaz Yusuf Mansur, is the second pesantren visited by immigration officers out of a target of seven pesantren in Tangerang that will receive education on preventing TPPO and TPPM.
In addition to providing education on the dangers of TPPO and TPPM, a sympathetic passport service was also held for students, staff, and parents. Hasanin noted that the students of Tahfizh Darul Quran are potential applicants because the school sends students abroad almost every year.
“That is why we are here. Seeing that the students under the leadership of Ustaz Yusuf Mansur are often sent to study abroad, we must be present to provide education to the community,” Hasanin said.
The head of the Tahfizh Darul Quran Islamic Boarding School, Ustaz Yusuf Mansur, viewed the activity positively. Through the education, he admitted to learning about the risks faced by victims of TPPO and TPPM, highlighting the need for cooperation and collective awareness to prevent such transnational crimes.
“We thank the Immigration Office. It is very important for our children and our extended family, especially at Darul Qur’an, to receive this awareness session on the dangers of TPPO and TPPM,” said Yusuf.
Through this socialisation and education, Yusuf said the students and he himself also understood the proper and correct procedures for making a passport, which requires honesty from applicants in providing information to avoid TPPO and TPPM.
“I also just learned that I needed to be told, especially when the officers explained that when making a passport you must be honest. It turns out that if you hide things, you can be in danger when you arrive there. The immigration officers certainly have more sense, more knowledge, experience, and understanding, so if the students can be honest, they will be safe,” Yusuf stated.
The socialisation and education activity was attended by more than 20 students. Meanwhile, the sympathetic passport service had 25 registered applicants. Every month, the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office of Tangerang conducts Immigration-Assisted Village socialisation activities to provide literacy to the public about the dangers of TPPO and TPPM.
