Immigration Minister Unaware of Deputy Minister Silmy Karim's Whereabouts
The Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andriandum, stated that he does not know the whereabouts of Deputy Minister Silmy Karim after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced a search for the official. This follows a sting operation (OTT) within the West Jakarta Immigration office.
“I also do not know where he is,” Agus Andrianto stated when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday via text message. When asked about his last meeting with Silmy Karim, Agus did not provide further comment. Similarly, the Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, also stated he was unaware of Silmy Karim’s location, saying, “I also do not know.”
Previously, the KPK confirmed that this marks the 11th sting operation in 2026 within the West Jakarta Immigration environment. “It is true, there was an OTT at West Jakarta Immigration,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto to ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday morning.
In subsequent developments, the KPK reported that dozens of individuals have been detained in the operation, which began on Tuesday (2/6) night, including the Head of the Class I Non-TPI West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah. Furthermore, KPK teams are still active in the field in Bali and West Java. The KPK has also seized various pieces of evidence, including vehicles, cash in US Dollars and Singapore Dollars, and precious metals.
Meanwhile, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that the operation is related to the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals, specifically Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP) and Limited Stay Permits (KITAS). Additionally, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo mentioned that the commission is still searching for Silmy Karim’s whereabouts in relation to the case.
