Immigration Minister Meets Interns, Receives Suggestions for Ciangir Probation Office Improvements
The Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto, visited the interns at the Class II Ciangir Probation Office in Tangerang, Banten. He sought their input on how to improve the office’s performance. “What do you do here?” Minister Agus asked one of the interns on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. “We manage the inventory, sir. We’re in charge of the state-owned assets,” replied one of the interns. Another intern, Lucky, explained that the Ciangir Probation Office had implemented a technology-based system for numbering letters, making the process more organised and efficient. “Now, we create letters with a numbering system called Sinurat. It uses technology, making it more organised and easier,” said the student from the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Sinurat is an abbreviation for the Letter Numbering System. This is an innovation developed by the interns. “As an effort to support administrative order and improve work efficiency, this system is designed to make it easier for staff to create letter numbers in a more structured way,” explained Lucky. Minister Agus then asked the interns for more specific suggestions or changes regarding the services provided to clients of the correctional system. One of the prison staff members, who was mentoring the interns, explained the counselling services provided by the interns to the clients. “What changes can you suggest for this Probation Office? Because the role of the Probation Office is very important. (Suggestions) that are geared towards the clients of the correctional system,” Minister Agus asked again. “Among the interns, there are graduates from Muhammadiyah, so the clients of the correctional system can receive counselling from these interns as instructors. We hold these sessions every Tuesday and Thursday in the mosque,” explained Novi.
