Immigration Imposes Administrative Sanctions on 10,911 Foreign Nationals

The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has imposed Immigration Administrative Actions (TAK) on 10,911 foreign nationals (WNA) in 2026. Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, stated that this enforcement increased by 146.49 per cent compared to the same period from January to August 2025. He explained that the administrative actions were taken against foreign nationals deemed not to be contributing, disturbing public order, or committing immigration administrative violations. Hendarsam explained that this step is part of Immigration’s efforts to ensure that the presence of foreigners in Indonesia continues to have a positive impact and does not disrupt security and order. “Our TAK stands at 10,911. That is up 146 per cent from the previous year, so currently the directorate of supervision and enforcement is very active in accelerating enforcement,” he told reporters on Wednesday (12/8). In addition, Hendarsam said his party also carried out deterrence against 2,678 foreign nationals. This number, he said, fell by 58.79 per cent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, for criminal law enforcement processes via pro justitia, 27 people were recorded, representing a 50 per cent decrease compared to 2025. “Then we also carried out prevention measures for 478 people, a decrease of 80.98 per cent,” he said. Nevertheless, he stated that not all violations committed by foreign nationals are directly subject to deportation. Some violations must go through a pro justitia process. This condition depends on the classification of the violation level committed. “Indeed, what must be seen is the classification of the action, whether it falls into an administrative violation only or into the criminal realm,” he said.
