Immigration Directorate General prepares replacements for officials detained by KPK

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration, under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kementerian Imimipas), is preparing replacements for officials detained by the KPK regarding an alleged extortion case to ensure that public services continue to function.

In a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday, Kemenimipas stated that it has deactivated the relevant officials from their positions as a measure of internal disciplinary enforcement.

The Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto, stated that this step was taken to ensure that the legal process can proceed without hindrance, while simultaneously maintaining the smooth operation of public services.

“We ensure that immigration services to the public continue to run normally across all service units and are not affected by the ongoing legal process,” said Agus.

A total of eight individuals, consisting of state officials or civil servants (ASN) who previously or currently hold positions within the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, have been detained by the KPK, including Deputy Minister of Immigration Silmy Karim.

Others include the Head of the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office of West Jakarta, Ronald Arman Abdullah; the Head of the West Java Immigration Directorate General Region, Jaya Saputra, who previously served as the Director of Stay Permits and Immigration Status for the November 2024–October 2025 period; and the Acting Director General of Immigration for the October 2024–April 2025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam.

“Once it is confirmed that they have been detained by the KPK, we have prepared potential replacements. However, at the very least, the service process continues as usual as it is covered by the Regional Offices,” said Hendarsam.

All Immigration officials detained by the KPK are now suspects due to their alleged involvement in the extortion case. Seven civil servants within the Immigration environment were detained following a sting operation (OTT) by the KPK, while Minister Silmy Karim surrendered himself to the authorities.

In addition to these eight civil servants, the KPK also arrested nine individuals from the private sector who acted as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents.
