The Directorate General of Immigration has blacklisted two Dutch nationals who organised a running event in Bali that discriminated against Indonesian citizens (WNI). The two are now barred from entering Indonesia for 10 years.

“They have committed that violation, we have blacklisted them, they can no longer enter Indonesia for 10 years,” said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko to reporters after an event in West Jakarta on Monday (27/6/2026).

Hendarsam stressed that the punishment is now in effect. He added that there is no tolerance, even though the two Dutch nationals have apologised and provided clarification. “There is no forgiveness,” he asserted.

The running event, titled Bali Silent Disco, sparked outrage online. The event was alleged to have violated immigration regulations and was rife with discrimination against local residents. In addition to being discriminatory, the running club’s activities were frequently complained about for disrupting traffic on public roads.

The event was organised by a running community called Entourage Bali, which consists of foreign nationals. Several registrants with Indonesian phone numbers, beginning with +62, were reportedly rejected from joining the community’s WhatsApp group. The controversy also drew attention from members of the House of Representatives and foreign media.

The Entourage Bali running community, allegedly initiated by a group of expatriates, is believed to have restricted access for local runners. Several screenshots circulating on social media showed complaints from local residents who were rejected when trying to register for the running event. Prospective Indonesian participants felt they were obstructed and ignored, while foreign registrants were able to gain immediate approval to join the event.
