Immigration Bans Ex-Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah from Leaving Country
The Directorate General of Immigration has prevented former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, from travelling abroad after he was named a suspect in a corruption case. Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko stated that the travel ban was implemented at the request of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. “Immigration has carried out the travel ban against two individuals, FA (a civil servant) and DR (a private sector individual), for 20 days in accordance with applicable regulations,” Hendarsam said on Sunday.
Febrie Adriansyah and a private sector individual, Don Ritto, have been named suspects by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Task Force in cases involving alleged corruption in coal mining, PT ASABRI, and PT Krakatau Steel. The case has since been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO). Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Rudi Margono, confirmed the AGO will continue the investigation initiated by the police. “We are waiting for the complete case files and official reports. Once received, we will hold a joint case exposition with the police task force,” Rudi said on Saturday.
During the investigation, police raided a money changer and the Cafe de’Clan Signature in Cipete, South Jakarta, as well as a house in Bogor, West Java. Authorities seized evidence including gold bars and foreign currency worth billions of rupiah. Meanwhile, House of Representatives Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stressed that the case involves individuals, not the institution of the Attorney General’s Office. “We will ensure this case proceeds within the legal corridor and is investigated thoroughly. We also want to ensure there is no excess or friction between law enforcement institutions,” he stated.
