JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Directorate General of Immigration, through the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, has arrested an Interpol UK fugitive, a man with the initials SL (45 years old), at the Immigration Checkpost (TPI) of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, stated that SL was arrested during the immigration examination process upon his arrival in Bali on the Singapore-Denpasar flight route, after the system detected him as a subject of Interpol’s Red Notice.

Based on data and intelligence coordination, SL is suspected of being the leader of an international criminal organisation.

Bugie issued a warning to transnational crime syndicates that Bali is not a safe hiding place.

“The successful arrest of SL is concrete proof of the sharpness of instinct and the high experience of our officers and landing officials at the TPI Ngurah Rai Airport. Our system is well integrated, and our officers are highly experienced in detecting and securing Interpol fugitives,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, appreciated the integrity of supervision at Bali’s entry points.

She emphasised that all work units under the Bali Immigration Regional Office will continue to strengthen coordination, increase vigilance, and optimise the use of technology and international cooperation.

“Bali must remain a safe, orderly region that provides no space for lawbreakers, including international fugitives,” said Felucia.

She stated that the handover is being carried out for further legal handling in accordance with international fugitive extradition procedures.

“The arrest of this British national is proof that immigration supervision at Bali’s entry points is multi-layered and very strict. Ngurah Rai Immigration will continue to actively coordinate with Interpol and other related agencies to maintain national security and order from cross-border criminal threats,” she added.
