Immigration asks accommodation managers to record foreign nationals through APOA

Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration is asking accommodation managers in Bali to actively record foreign nationals through the Foreigner Reporting Application (APOA) to facilitate supervision.

“We give no room for tolerance to anyone who violates the law and social norms in Indonesia,” said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko in Denpasar, Bali, Friday.

The data reported by accommodation owners or managers is directly integrated with the immigration system, making supervision more effective, accurate and reliable.

Accommodation managers include hotels, homestays, villas and similar establishments.

Accommodation managers are given education and procedures for accurately validating data on the presence of foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, during the Dharma Dewata Patrol held on Thursday night (27/8), authorities targeted the Canggu tourist area in Badung Regency.

In that operation, officers detained six foreign nationals — two from the United Kingdom and four others from India, Uganda, Nigeria and the United States — who were indicated to have overstayed and held limited stay permits that require further investigation.

“We are currently examining them at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office,” he said.

Authorities visited 50 accommodation managers to socialise the registration of foreign nationals through the application in the tourist areas of Canggu, Ubud, Singaraja, Tabanan and Nusa Penida.

The next operation, from 15 July to 16 August, resulted in the detention of 66 foreign nationals.

Authorities recorded that the most common problems involving foreign nationals were disturbing public order or failing to report to the immigration office, misuse of stay permits, overstaying and other legal violations.
