Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Directorate General of Immigration is working with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) to make it easier for international passengers arriving in Indonesia to access bookings for the Whoosh high-speed train to Bandung or Karawang through the All Indonesia service.

“We want travel to be made easier beyond immigration checks. After arriving in Indonesia, people should also find it increasingly easy to continue their journeys,” Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

The facility will be available from 16 October 2026. International passengers who have completed their arrival declaration through All Indonesia will be able to access a link to book Whoosh tickets provided through the service.

The cooperation between the Directorate General of Immigration and KCIC was formalised with an agreement signed by Hendarsam Marantoko and KCIC President Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi in Jakarta on Friday.

“This collaboration connects international arrival services with modern transport through a more convenient, single access point,” he said.

The partnership comes amid strong public interest in Whoosh. Since beginning operations through July 2026, the high-speed train has carried more than 16.9 million passenger journeys. By August 2026, foreign nationals had made 944,087 journeys on Whoosh.

Hendarsam said the figures showed the potential for connecting international arrivals with onward travel to destinations across West Java.

He explained that All Indonesia has simplified arrival declarations through a single service integrating immigration, customs, health and quarantine services. The declaration can be completed up to three days before departure.

In addition to improving access to transport, the cooperation between Immigration and KCIC covers the exchange of passenger data and information to support immigration oversight, while taking account of security and the protection of personal data.

Hendarsam said the collaboration put into practice the Immigration for the People ethos through modern public services that deliver direct benefits to the public.

He added that innovation and cross-sector cooperation were expected to reduce the complexity of travel and improve passengers’ comfort from their arrival in Indonesia until they reach their destinations.

“Immigration for the People means every innovation must deliver benefits that people can genuinely feel. It is not simply about introducing new technology, but making travel easier, faster and more comfortable,” he said.
