Jakarta, VIVA – The defendant in the alleged graft and extortion case related to occupational health and safety (K3) certifications, Immanuel Ebenezer alias Noel, has given an ultimatum to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The ultimatum is directed at KPK investigators whom he suspects of engaging in improper conduct. It began with Noel noting irregularities in the handling of public reports to the KPK’s Supervisory Board (Dewas). He considers the Dewas to be non-transparent and unaccountable. “Yesterday we filed a report. But they asked, which ones are being reported? This one shouldn’t be, how is the Dewas like that,” said Noel at the Corruption Court (PN Tipikor), Jakarta, quoted on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. He revealed that his report concerns alleged ethical violations by KPK personnel. Therefore, he warned that he would expose investigators who like to extort. “Not to mention later I will expose these players, the investigators who like to extort, you know, using third and fourth parties,” he stated. Noel also urged the KPK not to toy with him. “Here I am speaking bluntly to the KPK leadership, don’t mess with me. We are street activists, prison is normal for us,” he asserted. Previously, Immanuel Ebenezer alias Noel believed that the alleged extortion case regarding K3 certifications ensnaring him is a planted case. “I am sure this is part of an alleged planting by businessmen who don’t like my policies, related to my inspections,” said Noel when met before the trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Friday, 6 March 2026. He assessed that so far, there has been no testimony from witnesses in the trial linking the extortion of occupational health and safety (K3) certifications to him. More than 50 percent of the witnesses, he said, have no connection to Noel. The same applies to the Handcuff Operation (OTT) and the evidence found. Nevertheless, he hopes that the upcoming witness examination trial can proceed smoothly, especially since the public prosecutors and judges have acted professionally. “But I am optimistic there will definitely be no statements linking me to this case. Who was extorted? Which matter?” he remarked.
