IMM Central Board Demands Public Explanation from TNI on Guarding Jampidsus Official's Private Residence

The Central Executive Board of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (DPP IMM) has highlighted the involvement of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel in securing the residence of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung), Febrie Adriansyah. DPP IMM believes this step needs to be explained openly to the public to avoid triggering wild speculation. “The public has the right to know the legal basis and reasons for the TNI’s involvement. Transparency is essential to maintain public trust in law enforcement institutions,” said Ari Aprian Harahap, Head of the DPP IMM’s Department of Wisdom, Politics, and Public Policy, to reporters on Thursday (9/7/2026). According to Ari, the security of state officials must prioritise the principles of proportionality, transparency, and accountability. He stated that there should be no special treatment for any citizen or particular official. “Law enforcement and justice must uphold the principle that everyone is equal before the law; there must be no special treatment for any citizen or particular official,” he said. Ari also reminded that Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Armed Forces, as amended by Law Number 3 of 2025, stipulates the TNI’s main duties as a state defence apparatus. According to him, the involvement of soldiers in the civilian domain must have a clear legal basis. “The act of seemingly ‘showing off’ force to tightly guard Febrie’s house is feared to be an attempt to obstruct an investigation. The Attorney General and the TNI Commander must provide an official explanation; do not let the public speculate,” he stressed. It was previously known that on Wednesday (8/7) evening, TNI soldiers were tightly guarding Febrie Adriansyah’s house located in Kramat Pela, South Jakarta. The TNI Information Centre (Puspen) explained the reason for the tight security. “Regarding the security of the Jampidsus, it is true that the security was carried out at the request of the prosecutor’s office and has been coordinated according to applicable mechanisms and provisions, as per Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2025 concerning the protection of prosecutors in carrying out their duties,” said TNI Information Centre Head Brigadier General Muhammad Nas.
