Imipas Minister Warns Subordinates Against Corruption: "Stop Any Funny Business!"

Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto has reminded his ranks not to engage in corruption. This warning was issued in the wake of the former Deputy Minister of Imipas, Silmy Karim, and an official from the West Jakarta Immigration Office being detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in connection with a case involving residence permit processing for foreign nationals.

Agus made this statement during a house renovation social assistance handover event in Warungkiara, Sukabumi, West Java, on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Several officials from the Directorate General of Corrections were present at the occasion.

“Therefore, on this occasion as well, do not let me remind you like last month. On 5 May, I reminded you to stop, to cease, but on 5 June, an incident occurred. I ask within the Corrections ranks, please, those of you still playing funny games, stop,” said Agus.

Agus stated he has repeatedly reminded his staff to work honestly. He mentioned there are many other lawful sources of income that do not violate the law which Ministry of Imipas employees can pursue.

“I have reminded you over and over that foodstuff providers will surely bring in sustenance from managing wet canteens and telephone kiosks. Prison heads and detention centre heads can certainly also develop businesses, business units from the profits of primary cooperatives that manage wet canteens and telephone kiosks, which have been distributed monthly all this time,” he explained.

The former Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police is aware that several prisons have businesses operated by both employees and inmates. According to him, this can be developed so that all employees can prosper.

“Let us use this month’s profit to expand the business with the foodstuff providers,” he continued.

Agus assesses that by utilising such opportunities, employees can earn lawful income, leaving no excuse for corrupt behaviour or seeking money illegally.

“So that employee welfare can be achieved and there is no longer a need to be naughty in our work. Enough already, otherwise everything will be torn apart. In my opinion, please stop these things so that we are all spared. Remember, you all have families whose honour must be protected so they do not become unnecessary victims,” he said.
