IMF names new RI agent

JAKARTA (JP): The International Monetary Fund announced on Tuesday that David Nellor would succeed John Dodsworth as the senior resident representative in Indonesia when the latter's term concluded at the end of this month.

The IMF said in a press statement that Nellor was currently the assistant director of the Fund's regional office for Asia Pacific.

It added that the Australian citizen, who joined the IMF in 1982, was previously the resident representative in the Philippines.

The statement said that Dodsworth, who has been the IMF's representative in Jakarta since October 1999, would take up a senior appointment in the European department at the IMF headquarters in Washington.

The IMF is providing a multi-billion dollar bailout loan to Indonesia. Late last year, the fund suspended the disbursement of its next US$400 million loan tranche to the country amid signs that the government was wavering with the implementation of a key economic reform program.

The IMF is expected to disburse the loan sometime in September.(rei)
