The Director-General of the Indonesian Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP) TVRI, Iman Brotoseno, explained the reasons for his resignation. In an official statement from LPP TVRI, Iman announced his resignation during a weekly meeting held with all members of the TVRI board of directors, heads of work units, and heads of TVRI broadcasting stations across Indonesia at the Operational Support Building (GPO) of LPP TVRI, Jakarta.

“I have decided to resign so that I can focus on my health. There is no political pressure or threat of violence against me. I am resigning purely for health reasons,” said Iman, in a written statement as quoted by Antara on Monday, February 23, 2026.

The Supervisory Board of LPP TVRI stated that it would immediately process Iman Brotoseno’s resignation based on Government Regulation Number 4/2024 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation Number 13 of 2005 concerning the Indonesian Republic Television Public Broadcasting Institution and the Decision of the Supervisory Board of LPP TVRI Number 1/2024 concerning the Working Procedures of the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors of LPP TVRI.

Subsequently, at the latest 14 days after the letter of resignation, the TVRI Supervisory Board will hold a meeting to approve or reject the request.

The Chairman of the LPP TVRI Supervisory Board, Agus Sudibyo, expressed his gratitude for Iman’s hard work and efforts in advancing TVRI during his tenure as Director-General of LPP TVRI. He also asked all members of TVRI to remain calm in responding to the news.

“To the directors and all employees of TVRI, please remain calm, united, and focused on their respective tasks and functions. Work to the best of your ability to jointly carry out the functions of a public broadcasting institution,” said Agus.

Previously, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, a member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives, expressed hope that the news of the resignation of the Director-General of TVRI, Iman Brotoseno, would not disrupt the performance of the broadcasting institution, especially its preparations for the live broadcast of the 2026 World Cup. Saleh said that the TVRI board of directors should be quick to respond to the changes in the structure of the public broadcasting institution.

“All existing directors should be able to carry out the main tasks that have been handled by the Director-General so far,” said Saleh in a written statement on Monday, February 23, 2026.

The politician from the National Mandate Party (Partai Amanat Nasional) claimed to have heard information that Iman Brotoseno was resigning due to illness. However, he needs to confirm this information with TVRI.

Saleh also asked the TVRI Supervisory Board to provide clarification to the public so as not to cause speculation. He said that the TVRI Supervisory Board has at least 14 days to clarify the matter. If there are no problems with Iman’s resignation, the Supervisory Board can select a new Director-General of TVRI through a selection committee.
