The sort of soaps aired by TV stations today make me
embarrassed as a female citizen because most of the stories
degrade the esteem and dignity of women.

Many of these soaps depict the attempts of women to win the
affections of men by any means whatsoever, from fighting among
each other to the use of witches and thugs. The artists involved
play various roles, ranging from students to housewives.

TV programs have a tremendous impact on the viewers, let alone
children under five, who take in all that they see.

There is obviously a dilemma here in that TV programs need to
attract viewers. But aren't there better forms of entertainment
instead of those where the sole motive is profit? If we were
willing to produce educational serials, we could lead the market
instead of being dictated to.
