Images of Meta's Project Phoenix headset emerge

Images of Meta’s new mixed reality headset, known as Project Phoenix, have emerged, providing a fairly detailed glimpse of the glasses-like device.

According to a report by Engadget on Friday (11/9), the images were initially published by UploadVR, which discovered the files within the HorizonOS Prescription Lens application released by Meta.

The application, which has since been removed, was allegedly intended for users requiring prescription lenses for the headset.

UploadVR discovered image files that clearly show the headset from various angles, with the exception of the front view.

The device’s design in these images appears consistent with leaks regarding Project Phoenix that have been circulating over the past year.

The device’s form factor differs from Meta’s existing Quest headset line, appearing more like spectacles, similar to the Aura headset from Xreal.

One image shows a cable connected to the headset, aligning with previous leaks suggesting that Project Phoenix will utilise a wired connection to a separate device.

According to previous reports, the Project Phoenix device is expected to be ready in the first half of 2027, following delays in its development schedule. The company is expected to introduce it during the annual Meta Connect event on 23 September 2026.
