Illness at embarkation: three Hajj pilgrims from Ciamis cancel their trip to the Holy Land
Three Hajj pilgrims from Kabupaten Ciamis were prevented from departing after medical examinations showed they were ill, meaning they could not proceed with the flight to the Holy Land to perform the pilgrimage rites.
Ciamis (ANTARA) - A total of three Hajj pilgrims from Kabupaten Ciamis were unable to depart after medical checks found them ill, resulting in their disqualification from the flight to the Holy Land. ‘The ones unfit to fly and not to depart are three: Mrs Icah, Mrs Nasirah, and Mr Samin; they are sick,’ said Nana Supriatna, Head of the Office of the Hajj and Umrah Ministry (Kemenhaj) in Ciamis, to reporters in Ciamis on Tuesday.
She noted that the Hajj pilgrims from Ciamis were divided into two departure waves: the first wave comprising 439 people and the second wave 417, forming Flight Group (Kloter) 31.
The pilgrims from Kloter 31 who left Ciamis on 14 May 2026, she said, initially included four people who fell ill during medical checks at Embarkasi Indramayu prior to preparation for departure at the Bandara Pemerintah? International? Bandara Juanda? The Indonesian text mentions Bandara Internasional Jawa Barat (BIJB) Kertajati, Majalengka. So the sentence should read: ‘the four were detected ill by the medical team at Embarkasi Indramayu before the departure preparations at Bandara Internasional Jawa Barat (BIJB) Kertajati, Majalengka.’
‘The three Hajj pilgrims from Ciamis who went to embarkation were healthy and clearly fit to depart, but upon embarkation checks, they were found ill,’ she said.
She added that the condition of those who did not depart were not only from Ciamis; reports from other areas also indicate several pilgrims had their departures cancelled to the Holy Land.
‘Tunda berangkat, nanti 2027, kita berharap mereka-mereka sehat,’ she said.
She added that those who were cancelled would not receive any refunds; if refunded, it would mean they cannot be included in next year’s Hajj list.
‘Mudah-mudahan tahun depan berangkat, kalau tidak bisa berangkat solusinya ya dilimpahkan ke ahli waris,’ she said.
