Illegal traffic raids

We live in Jakarta and commute to and fro between our job at a
factory in Tangerang and home. On our daily route, either by toll
or regular road, we will most certainly meet irregularities
conducted by members of the police force and the Traffic and
Transportation Control Agency.

Let's start from Jakarta, on Jl. K.H. Hasyim Ashari and Jl.
Tg. Selor Raya beside the Roxymas project, which have become an
operating ground for the illegal activities of two Sabara traffic
officers from a police unit in Jakarta.

That is not all. Illegal raids in broad daylight are also
carried out by members of the police force and the agency on Jl.
Daan Mogot and at the crossroad leading to the Citra Garden
housing estate.

In Tangerang district, two policemen daily prey on passing
trucks in the nether region of the Tangerang-Serpong toll bridge
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Still in the Tangerang district, at the exit of the Tangerang
toll road, one would certainly find one Sabara member of a
Tangerang Police unit waiting for uncovered trucks and open pick-
ups from 9 p.m. right through 6 a.m.

We believe that a smoothly running toll road does not need
police supervision, except for exceptional cases.

We appeal for stricter action from the authorities concerned
to eradicate these irregularities, which are debasing the Traffic
Law.
