Illegal traffic controllers ("pak ogah") once again dominate PMKS in West Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Illegal traffic controllers or “pak ogah” have once again become the category of Social Welfare Problem Holders (PMKS) with the highest numbers in the West Jakarta area. The Head of the West Jakarta Social Services Sub-Department, Fajar Laksono, stated that out of 485 PMKS rounded up from January to March 2026, 134 were “pak ogah”. “The highest number are pak ogah. Then beggars 108 people, psychotics 91, beggars 24, buskers 10, scavengers 7, street vendors 3, women 1, and other PMKS 107 people,” said Fajar when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday. Fajar mentioned that most of the hundreds of PMKS were rounded up from various locations, such as Kalideres Terminal, Cengkareng flyover, Slipi flyover, Tomang flyover, Grogol flyover, Jembatan Dua flyover, and around the Kota Tua area. “We have placed posts for the Task Force (Satgas) for Social Services, Supervision, and Control (P3S) at those locations,” said Fajar. After being rounded up, most PMKS are taken to the Kedoya Social Home for basic rehabilitation with assessments by staff. “If there are PMKS not originating from DKI Jakarta, those PMKS are planned to be returned to their home regions,” explained Fajar. Meanwhile, PMKS originating from Jakarta but without family will be referred to advanced rehabilitation homes. “Referrals for rehabilitation according to the classification from assessment results,” he concluded.
