Illegal Parking Vehicles in East Jakarta Relocated After Viral AI-Edited Photo Incident
Illegal parking in the Kalisari area, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, went viral when a report to the JAKI app was responded to with an AI edit. The vehicles parked haphazardly have now been moved by their owners.
The Head of the Transportation Enforcement Unit (Kasatpel) for Pasar Rebo Sub-District, Basuki, explained that his team went to the field to crack down on illegal parking in the Damai Street area, RT 02 RW 01, Kalisari Village, Pasar Rebo Sub-District, East Jakarta. However, upon arrival at the location, the vehicle parked on the roadside had already been moved.
“Vehicles that were parked (improperly) had been moved by their owners before the officers took enforcement action,” said Kasatpel Basuki, quoted by Antara, Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Basuki mentioned that there were four vehicles originally parked along that road. The road is now clear.
“The plan was to tow the four illegally parked vehicles. However, when we arrived at the location, the vehicles were no longer there, and the site was already clear,” he said.
Two of the four vehicles were moved to a nearby workshop, while the rest were taken by the vehicle owners. Basuki advised vehicle owners not to park haphazardly again, especially on the road body. Moreover, Damai Street has a limited width.
“We remind the public not to park on the road body as it can disrupt other road users,” said Basuki.
His side also encouraged residents to report if they find illegal parking that is disruptive. Reports can be submitted directly to the local Transportation Enforcement Unit (Satpel) for immediate follow-up. The village authorities were urged to install information boards (banners) prohibiting parking at vulnerable points.
“This collaborative effort between the government and the community is expected to create order and comfort in residential areas, especially in addressing the frequent complaints about illegal parking,” said Basuki.
Previously, a social media post went viral showing a PPSU officer using AI technology to respond to residents’ reports on illegal parking in Kalisari, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta. The investigation results led to the PPSU in Kalisari receiving a First Warning Letter (SP1).
“The officer in question has been given an SP1 by the Kalisari Village Head, as PPSU is under the village head’s responsibility, and the individual has made a statement that they will not repeat the action,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin.
The sanction is a firm step against the viral PPSU officer who drew public attention.
