Illegal Parking Ranks Second Most Reported Issue, Jakarta Provincial Government Pledges Action
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has initiated an illegal parking enforcement operation, as unauthorised parking has become one of the most frequently reported issues by residents. The enforcement rally was led by Head of the Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, at the southern side of Monas, Central Jakarta, on Monday (8/6/2026). He noted that illegal parking and unauthorised parking attendants represent the second most common issue reported by the public.
“Based on CRM data, there are 3,246 community reports regarding illegal parking, ranking second among all public complaints. The top issue relates to road-related problems, with 5,246 reports,” said Budi.
He stated that 600 joint personnel have been deployed to tackle illegal parking, with enforcement activities set to take place across all regions of Jakarta. “Today, the Jakarta Provincial Government has deployed 600 joint personnel, consisting of 200 from the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, 200 from the Jakarta Provincial Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), 100 from the Social Affairs Agency, and 100 from the TNI and Polri. We have also added forces from the Population and Civil Registry Office and the Manpower Office,” he added.
Budi mentioned that 10 tow trucks have been deployed for the operation. According to him, there are 15 priority enforcement points. “Enforcement is being carried out through OCP (Operasi Cabut Pentil/Valve Removal Operation), towing, and the crackdown on illegal parking attendants. Our focus is on 15 priority points across five administrative cities of Jakarta: West Jakarta (Cengkareng, Kalideres, Kembangan); Central Jakarta (Kebon Sirih, Wahid Hasyim, Thamrin City); South Jakarta (Kasablanka, Rasuna Said, Dr Satrio); North Jakarta (Kelapa Gading, Pademangan, Pluit); and East Jakarta (Jatinegara Timur, Jatinegara Barat, and Jatinegara Station),” he concluded.
