Illegal Parking Persists in Senopati Despite South Jakarta Transport Agency Raid

Illegal parking remains rampant in the Senopati area of South Jakarta despite an earlier enforcement operation by the South Jakarta Transportation Agency (Sudinhub Jaksel).

Monitoring by detikcom on Thursday evening (25/6/2026) at 18:30 WIB revealed numerous vehicles, both motorcycles and cars, still parked on pavements and along the roadside of Jalan Gunawarman and Jalan Senopati. The obstructions blocked pedestrian access on pavements and rendered bicycle lanes completely impassable, while the build-up of vehicles along the road caused significant traffic congestion in the vicinity.

Earlier in the day, Sudinhub Jaksel conducted a joint operation from 13:30 to 15:30 WIB, impounding eight motorcycles and one car for parking violations. Bernard Pasaribu, Head of Sudinhub South Jakarta, stated that the action followed standard operating procedures, with officers first requesting owners to move their vehicles before resorting to towing after a ten-minute grace period. The operation was a direct response to public reports and viral social media posts highlighting the chronic illegal parking along the two streets.

The joint operation, which began with a roll call led by the agency head, traffic division chief, and the Kebayoran Baru sub-district head, involved personnel from the military, police mobile brigade, municipal police, and transport agency. In addition to towing eight motorcycles, officers deflated the tyres of 17 other illegally parked motorbikes and towed one car. Authorities also removed one individual deemed a social welfare concern, commonly known as a ‘pak ogah’.

Bernard emphasised that the enforcement was conducted persuasively and humanely, with warnings issued to vehicle owners and business operators to maintain order on pavements. The agency has committed to continued surveillance to ensure traffic order and the proper use of public space in the Senopati-Gunawarman area, a popular destination.
