JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Illegal motorcycle parking that blocks the sidewalk along Jalan Haji Miran in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, has gone viral on social media. A number of two-wheeled vehicles were observed obstructing pedestrian access, provoking complaints from residents. In a video posted by the Instagram account @jakarta.terkini, a row of motorcycles is seen parked on the footpath. Additionally, a truck believed to be unloading cargo was observed blocking the pedestrian path in the area.

The enforcement was carried out by officers from the Suku Dinas Bina Marga and Satpol PP of Malaka Jaya Lurah Malaka Jaya. During the operation, officers removed the pentil from several motorcycles found parked on the footpath and issued warnings to the operators.

Head of the Implementation Unit (Kasatpel) Satpol PP Kelurahan Malaka Jaya, Tanjani, said the crackdown, described as Operasi Cabut Pentil (OCP), was carried out in response to widespread public complaints about sidewalks being used as parking areas.

“Iya, ini bagian yang viral juga. Kami ambil tindakan, melakukan OCP ya, Operasi Cabut Pentil. Dan memberikan teguran kepada si pemilik,” Tanjani said when approached on Wednesday (4/3/2026).

He added that the business owner is trying to find parking space to accommodate drivers and visitors.

“Pemilik gedung, untuk menyediakan lahan parkir. Dan menurut si pemilik, akan mencari lahan parkir dalam waktu dekat ini,” he said.

“Iya mengakui karena parkir terbatas juga. Dan kami ramai sore, ini lagi nyari parkiran kok,” he concluded.
