Illegal Parking in Front of RSCM Central Jakarta Cleared, Parking Attendants Flee During Enforcement
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) conducted an enforcement operation against illegal parking at 15 locations today. Several vehicles were penalised, and some unauthorised parking attendants fled as officials attempted to secure them.
Head of Jakarta’s Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, stated that the evasion occurred during enforcement efforts in front of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) on Jalan Diponegoro, Senen, Central Jakarta, on Monday (8/6/2026).
“We intended to take action against the parking attendants, but they fled. Moving forward, we urge the public not to park haphazardly. If parking occurs in unauthorised areas, we will certainly take action. If the public complies, these illegal attendants will cease to exist,” Budi told reporters during the operation on Jalan Diponegoro.
Budi added that Dishub plans to bring illegal parking attendants into a formal development programme, coordinating with the Manpower Office for this purpose. “If we had apprehended them, we would have directed them towards such development. We will coordinate with the Manpower Office to provide training that can help them improve their skills,” he added.
Budi explained that several illegal parking spots were identified in front of RSCM on Jalan Diponegoro, as well as significant congestion in Jalan Salemba I and smaller roads connecting towards Jalan Pramuka. “There is a vast amount of illegal parking in front of RSCM, particularly involving motorcycles, with dozens of vehicles affected,” he noted.
Furthermore, Budi stated that officers will be stationed at the site to prevent future illegal parking. “We will deploy officers here. There will be personnel on duty daily to regulate the area and ensure no further illegal parking occurs,” he concluded.
