Illegal Parking in Depok's Margonda, Prepare for Deflated Tyres or Towing

The Depok Transportation Agency has affirmed that it will take action against vehicles that park illegally or stop haphazardly in the Jalan Margonda area. This step is taken to maintain smooth traffic flow while restoring the function of pavements for pedestrians. Saiful Anwar, Head of the Traffic Order and Parking Section of the Depok Transportation Agency, has urged the public to park their vehicles in the official locations provided. According to him, the pavements along Jalan Margonda must not be used as parking spots for vehicles because they are intended exclusively for pedestrians. “These pavements are made for pedestrians, not for parking. So if there are members of the public or residents who continue to park there, we will take action in accordance with the applicable regulations,” said Anwar. “The minimum sanction is deflating the tyres. For cars, the maximum is locking the wheels. If they are still not moved, we will tow them,” Anwar added. “Enforcement is not only for private vehicles, but also for angkots that stop haphazardly,” he stated. In addition to disrupting vehicle flow, such practices also make pedestrian spaces uncomfortable and potentially endanger the safety of road users.
