Illegal Parking in Depok to Face Sanctions: Here Are the Prohibited Locations

Depok, Kompas.com – The Depok City Transportation Agency is intensifying crackdowns on vehicles parking illegally or city transport stopping haphazardly at several congestion-prone points in Depok. Head of the Traffic Order and Parking Section of the Depok Transportation Agency, Saiful Anwar, stated that raids on illegally parked vehicles have been conducted since last month and will be carried out routinely. “It has been done since last month, we will do it routinely (raids),” said Anwar to Kompas.com on 12/5/2026. The aim is to deter the public regarding parking. There are already regulations prohibiting parking on sidewalks. Sidewalks are for pedestrians, not for parking,” Anwar explained. The Depok Transportation Agency identified several locations as the focus of enforcement on roads with high vehicle activity. “Enforcement is not only for private vehicles, but also for angkots that stop haphazardly,” he said. For sanctions, the Depok Transportation Agency will implement gradual measures from warnings to physical actions against violating vehicles. This crackdown on illegal parking is aimed at reducing congestion while restoring the function of sidewalks as safe spaces for pedestrians. So far, several roads in Depok have often been filled with vehicles parked haphazardly, disrupting traffic flow, especially during rush hours.
