Police have arrested an illegal parking attendant, identified as MS, who allegedly forced a motorcyclist to pay a parking fee of Rp5,000 in the Mitra Market area of Tambora, West Jakarta. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 8, when the victim parked his motorcycle to shop for baking supplies. After finishing his shopping, the victim was approached by the attendant who demanded the fee. When the victim offered the standard motorcycle rate of Rp2,000, the suspect refused and allegedly threatened to beat him. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the Tambora Police and posted about it on social media, where it went viral. Following the report, officers conducted a search and found the suspect still operating in the parking area. Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect was using expired parking tickets and that the Rp5,000 fee he demanded was the rate for cars, not motorcycles. A urine test conducted after the arrest also showed the suspect was positive for amphetamines. The Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the case under Article 482 of the Criminal Code.
