Illegal loggers avoid arrest using strippers
RAHA, North Sumatra: Illegal loggers in the North Sumatra
district of Muna have used female strippers to avert arrests by
forestry guards, a local chief legislator said on Monday.
La Ode Maradala, head of the Muna district legislative
council, said the women were ordered by their bosses to hide
illegal teak wood.
If the women are seen collecting the teak by forest guards,
they have been instructed to immediately strip to create
uncertainty for the security officers.
Maradala said such a nasty trick appeared to be effective for
the teak wood thieves in order to avoid arrest.
The women seemed determined to carry out such a novel arrest
deterrent because they were afraid of being arrested and were
also promised a huge reward from their bosses, he said. --Antara
